The 14th Annual Wilmington Family Picnic

It's that time again! The 14th Annual Wilmington Family Picnic will be held during daytime hours at Banning Park on Saturday, June 12th.

The WJC (Wellness Joy & Caring) Adult Day Program will be participating in this annual event, so please stop by and say hello! They will have a booth open and will be raising donations to help with the every day-to-day activities for our aging family members and neighbors. 

Serving the Harbor Area since 1976, The Wellness, Joy and Caring Program (WJC) is affiliated with the Banning Senior Center, under the Jaycee Program and is funded in part by the Los Angeles Department of Aging. Unfortunately like many programs throughout Los Angeles, it has suffered set backs due to budget cuts, so please come out and have an enjoyable outing while helping WJC make a difference in our community’s senior citizen’s lives.

The Wellness, Joy, and Caring Adult Day Program

Serving the Harbor Area since 1976, The Wellness, Joy and Caring Program (WJC) is affiliated with the Banning Senior Center, under the Jaycee Program and is funded in part by the Los Angeles Department of Aging. WJC Adult Day Program is a non-profit 501(c) program designed to give respite care to caregivers while attending to their elderly loves ones in a safe environment. This program is designed to improve the quality of life of the seniors while preventing premature institutionalization.

WJC offers a social day care and their goal is to help stimulate the isolated, early Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke victims, and frail elderly through mental and physically stimulating activities.

The staff is well trained to care for your loved ones. They are Bi-lingual, caring, compassionate, go above and beyond what is required of the job, treat you and your loved one with love and respect. The WJC staff helps with the reduction of loneliness, the reduction of depression, and best of all, they help raise self-esteem.

WJC Adult Day Program covers the following communities: Wilmington, San Pedro, and Harbor City. Adjacent communities are also eligible for enrollment into the program. Please call for more details.

• Transportation is provided through the Wilmington Multi-Purpose Senior Center at a minimal charge, if participant lives within the service area.

Eligibility:

• Must be older than 62 years
• Be able to eat and toilet themselves. Sorry, not licensed for wheelchairs
• Need (TB) Tuberculosis test
• Intake/Evaluation
• Interview to determine fee
