LAHC Annual Student Art Exhibit: 2010 Photo Recap

Photo Re-Cap: LAHC Fine Arts Gallery–Student Art Exhibit 2010

The Los Angeles Harbor College hosted their Annual Student Art Exhibit Reception on May 12^th and ongoing until the 28^th. I decided to take a little stroll over to the Fine Arts Gallery in between classes today to see the displays. It was a bright and sunny day with enough natural light to make up for the lack of photographic quality of my antique Samsung cell phone. (I can’t wait to get my Minolta XK up and running!).

As I walk in, I see an announcement posted on the doorway; apparently there is a REWARD for the safe return of the Fine Arts Gallery Guest Book. What a bummer! I hope the gallery recovers this valuable book. It’s been missing since May 3^rd.The person to contact is Ron Linden and he guarantees confidentiality. I then proceed inside, and I am blown away by all of the work! There are a lot of wonderful pieces to see. I took my time with each piece, photographed them, and before I knew it, my class was about to begin in ten minutes. Trust me when I say, you will be in the zone and you will lose track of time.

The exhibit consists of various mediums, from oil and acrylic canvases, watercolor, ceramics, photography, digital, B&W, charcoal, nudes, and so much more. This lay out is worthy to be seen! Great work from all of the LAHC students, and some are members from WECAN! Support your local artists and stop by, remember that this show will run until May 28, 2010 and as always, FREE to ALL.

WECAN event last weekend

Last friday, many people came out to enjoy the art and music at the WECAN art exhibit displayed at the Smokin Coffin. I took pictures of some of the artists and their work: Elizabeth Aguilar, Isaac Bogarin, Marcos Andrade, Emilio Venegas Jr., Eddie Silva, and Chris Hernandez.

The Wilmington Enrichment Community Artist Network, WECAN, is having an art show this Friday. WECAN is a community group that organizes art shows for local artists. They are trying to bring awareness to the great art community here in Wilmington. It is also a great way to promote local businesses. Here is some information:
