The Los Angeles Harbor College hosted their Annual Student Art Exhibit Reception on May 12^th and ongoing until the 28^th. I decided to take a little stroll over to the Fine Arts Gallery in between classes today to see the displays. It was a bright and sunny day with enough natural light to make up for the lack of photographic quality of my antique Samsung cell phone. (I can’t wait to get my Minolta XK up and running!).

As I walk in, I see an announcement posted on the doorway; apparently there is a REWARD for the safe return of the Fine Arts Gallery Guest Book. What a bummer! I hope the gallery recovers this valuable book. It’s been missing since May 3^rd.The person to contact is Ron Linden and he guarantees confidentiality. I then proceed inside, and I am blown away by all of the work! There are a lot of wonderful pieces to see. I took my time with each piece, photographed them, and before I knew it, my class was about to begin in ten minutes. Trust me when I say, you will be in the zone and you will lose track of time.

The exhibit consists of various mediums, from oil and acrylic canvases, watercolor, ceramics, photography, digital, B&W, charcoal, nudes, and so much more. This lay out is worthy to be seen! Great work from all of the LAHC students, and some are members from WECAN! Support your local artists and stop by, remember that this show will run until May 28, 2010 and as always, FREE to ALL.

LAHC Financial Aid Debit Card Coming Soon

The LAHC Financial Aid Debit Card is coming this Fall 2010. All awarded Financial Aid applicants will receive their debit card in the mail this summer, so if you're expecting this in the mail; please make sure that your address with the school and the post office is correct and up to date.

HigherOne representative, Aaron, will be on campus this Thursday, May 20th in front of the Seahawk Center from 9am-11am. He will provide information on the new way the financial aid funds will be processed beginning next fall, and of course to answer any questions students might have on the HigherOne-MyLACCDcard, plus freebies and giveaways!

Just a reminder: If you have not filed your FAFSA for 2010-11, do it now and be sure to complete your file with the documents requested.

Los Angeles Harbor College Student Art Exhibition Tonight

The Los Angeles Harbor College Student Art Exhibition will be taking place May 12, 2010 through May 28, 2010, at the LAHC Fine Arts Gallery located at the West portion of campus near the General Education building.

The opening reception and awards banquet begins on Wednesday May 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. From there on, regular gallery hours for the exhibition will be Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
